Jonathan Atherton
Taken from a review of a recent performance at the Jakarta Comedy Club: http://www.jakartacomedyclub.com/jcc/arc_0503.html Headliner for the night was the masterful and multilingual Australian super-talent Jonathan Atherton. To say that this man had the audience in stitches does not convey the true spirit of the experience. Astounding, incredible, unbelievable, fabulous and gifted are just some of the words heard that night to describe the performance of this globetrotting Australian. Speaking ten languages and hysterical in every one, this man was a pleasure to meet and watch. From encounters with fat German sex tourists in Thailand and using animal impressions to find out what he was eating in Sumatra (Moo? No. Quack quack? No. Baahhh? No. Woof woof! Ahhhh!) Every part of the act was appropriate and right on the money. If ever you find out that this man is appearing at a club near you, put your life on hold and see him at any cost! ![]() ![]() Spud & Collander

Harley Breen
Harley Breen is surely and rapidly becoming a major player in the Melbourne and Australian comedy world. He is young, and already well versed in the language of the art that is Comedy. He began with his feet planted firmly on the ground and his mind traveling to exotic and imaginative destinations. Harley's comedy career was launched in Brisbane where he performed with the top local and national comedy circuit. After two years of working the Brisbane scene Harley moved to Melbourne to take part in the 2004 Melbourne International Comedy festival (MICF). His first comedy festival show "A Harley shaped Hickey called Wayne" achieved sell out crowds. In 2005 his MICF show titled "SKINT" achieved the same success attracting robust crowds and receiving acclaim throughout the season. In the 2006 MICF Harley produced and performed his first solo show; "Harley Breen Son of a Preacher Man" directed by Brad Oakes; once again achieving bumper crowds and great reviews. "Harley Breen is what he says he is, a hilarious break from comedy stereotypes, very funny." The Age "Harley leaves the audience begging for more" MX Melbourne. ***** Directly after the 2006 MICF season Harley was invited to take part in the comedy festival official tour "the Melbourne comedy festival road show", along with various other comedians including Greg fleet, Mark Watson and Fiona O'Loughlin Harley performed in 21 different shows through out Queensland Victoria and Western Aus. Along with loosely scripted comedy, Harley also has a flare at making up comedy on the spot, performing with two improvisation crews regularly over the past two years, Cut and Paste (glitch bar and cinema) and the "Crew" Australia's longest running weekly Improvisation troupe. It hasn't been confined to just improvisation theatre though, he has also been in "serious" theatre from fringe productions to the Bard. In addition to this Harley has performed in various roles on local and international TV shows, Ads and Movies, the most exiting being the Box office smash hit Scooby Doo. It had to have been a smash hit somewhere, why else would you film a second one. With rapid energy and physicality, Harley delivers his bizarre and absurd takes on the world, captivating his audience with unmarked ideas and surreal images in a mission to unravel rigid beliefs and preset assumptions that mostly subside cunningly deep within institutions and establishments (what the hell does that mean?). Harley tackles his dilemmas and sticky situations head-on exposing humour that may otherwise go unnoticed. ![]() |
